Sept. 4, 1963 - The Ford Motor Company has spent more than $300 million to bring out a completely restyled line of Ford division cars. The 1964 models feature a square look. They also reflect Ford’s leaning toward chrome. From the smartly compact Falcon to the Thunderbird, the new models are heavily trimmed with metal. They are a throwback to the flashy ornamentation that enabled Ford to lead the automotive parade in 1957 and 1959. The best looking of the division’s four lines is the intermediate-sized Fairlane. It has lost its slim rear-fender fins so that side panels blend more pleasingly into the rear deck.
