20th Century-Fox Considers Suing Marilyn Monroe

June 6, 1962 - Henry Weinstein said today that 20th Century-Fox was considering a lawsuit against Marilyn Monroe for her failure to appear for work in a film. The producer added that Fox also was thinking of replacing her in “Something’s Got to Give,” which co-stars Dean Martin. “Marilyn has reported only 12 days out of the 32 she is supposed to have worked,” Mr. Weinstein said. “She has completely flouted professional discipline and is responsible for putting 104 crew members out of work. We definitely are going to take some action to protect the picture, our stockholders, and the other artists in the cast. We can sue her or replace her or both.” A spokesman for the actress said, “Marilyn isn’t being difficult. She’s been ill and unable to work.”
