Mar. 31, 1962 - ABC-TV will begin televising a limited number of its programs in color in the fall. The only network now televising in color is NBC. Initially, ABC’s color programs will include “The Flintstones” and “Mattie’s Funnies with Beany and Cecil,” both animated cartoons, and some of the motion pictures to be presented on Sunday nights. The schedule will be expanded in the 1963-64 season. NBC, manufacturer of color receivers, now televises about 44 hours of color a week on its network. It plans further expansion next fall. It is not known whether the ABC decision will have any effect on CBS’s position about color. At one time, CBS televised a few shows in color, but it has not done so in recent years.
