Jan. 27, 1963 - A small boy who complains that “the ‘W’s” in alphabet soup “tickle when they go down” is given prominent display in the Lipton Company’s new advertising campaign. The boy also observes that “the O’s roll” and the “K’s go bump, bump” and the “L’s wobble.” Copy on the ad notes that all this rolling, tickling, and bumping constitutes “a happy inspiration” and that Lipton’s is “another delicious soup that tastes like Mother just cooked it.” Young & Rubicam, Inc. produced the ad, which will appear in March issues of several magazines.
