Are the Green Bay Packers a Dynasty?

Jan. 1, 1962 - Green Bay’s smashing triumph over the Giants in the NFL championship game on Sunday may have signaled the start of a long period of domination by the Packers. The Green Bay squad that Coach Vince Lombardi guided from the bottom to the top in just three seasons is a young group yet to reach its full potential. The 22 regulars in the offensive and defensive platoons that overwhelmed the Giants, 37-0, averaged 26 years of age and 5 years of professional experience. What’s more, the Packers have in support of their solid starters a flock of talented young replacements whom Lombardi has been able to bring along slowly, without undue pressure. The Packers have a definite jump on the Giants and the rest of the NFL field.
