Sept. 10, 1961 - Reverend Billy Graham said today that the U.S. had more unhappy marriages now than ever. Only social pressures and children prevent "many more loveless marriages" from breaking up, the evangelist told 22,000 persons at Philadelphia's Connie Mack Stadium. "Our divorce rate is three times more than England's and Australia's and six times that of Norway and Holland," he said. "When the home breaks, the nation is on the skids. We are threatened by communism from without and moral decadence within." Dr. Graham advised young persons not to marry someone who does not have faith in God.
