Bodies of Japanese Suicidal Soldiers of WWII Recovered

Nov. 2, 1961 - The bodies of 200 Japanese soldiers who committed suicide in World War II rather than surrender to U.S. forces have been found on Mount Mafuni at the southern tip of Okinawa (pictured in 1945), it was announced today. The bodies include those of Gen. Takeo Fujioka and Maj. Gen. Miyoji Sato.
