Braves Beat Drysdale and Dodgers, 2-1

Aug. 31, 1961 - A double steal with Lee Maye sliding home safely gave Milwaukee a 2-1 victory over Los Angeles today, putting the Dodgers three games out of first place and the Braves alone in third place in the National League pennant race. Bob Hendley, a left-hander, gained the victory, and Don Drysdale was charged with his ninth loss. Maye led off the third with a single, went to second on Frank Bolling's sacrifice, and advanced to third on Eddie Mathew's groundout. Hank Aaron walked. Then, with Joe Adcock at the plate, Maye and Aaron pulled the game-winning double steal.
