Browns Remain Unbeaten in NFL Exhibition Contests this Year

Sept. 2, 1962 - The Cleveland Browns scored with 57 seconds remaining and beat the Rams, 26-24, in Los Angeles to remain undefeated in 4 NFL exhibition contests. Jim Ninowski, the Browns’ quarterback, passed 21 yards to John Brewer for the second of two fourth-period touchdowns as Cleveland rallied before 43,118 fans. Only the Browns and the Green Bay Packers are undefeated among the 14 NFL teams. Ninowski took charge of the Cleveland attack in the last half after the Rams had led, 10-0, at halftime. He pitched his first scoring pass to Rich Kreitling, a 50-yarder, in the third period. Zeke Bratkowski put Los Angeles ahead, 17-13, with an 84-yard aerial to Duane Allen. Jon Arnett’s touchdown from the 1 gave the Rams a 24-13 lead before the Browns rallied and won.
