Burton to Costar with O’Toole in “Becket”

Sept. 16, 1962 - Richard Burton (right), who is on vacation in Switzerland after having finished his lengthy and much-publicized role of Mark Antony in “Cleopatra,” will play the title role in the film version of “Becket.” The adaptation of the Jean Anouilh dramatic play will be produced by Hal Wallis and directed by Peter Glenville, who directed the play on Broadway and in England. The role of King Henry II, played on Broadway by Anthony Quinn, has been offered to Peter O’Toole (left), the young British stage and film actor who will be seen in the title role of the forthcoming movie, “Lawrence of Arabia.”
