Sept. 10, 1962 - Another entry in the growing luxury sports-type automobile field was unveiled today when Buick showed its rakish Riviera. The Riviera, which will be in the $5,000 price range, is aimed at “the successful man with an urge for fun,” according to Edward D. Rollert, general manager of Buick. The old established big Buick and the luxury compact Special have been modestly restyled. Front and rear ends are less cluttered. Suspension refinements provide a smoother ride. While the Special has grown 4 inches to 192 inches, the standard-size cars are virtually unchanged at 215 and 221 inches, depending on the model.
