Cars: 1963 Chrysler

Aug. 15, 1962 - The Chrysler Corporation has abandoned extremism in styling and has decided to “follow the leaders.” As a result, some of its 1963 models shown at a preview today fit more closely into the successful styling mold that has enabled General Motors and Ford to dominate the market. The Chrysler stylists have borrowed liberally from their bigger competitors as well as from American Motors’ baby Ramblers. The Valiant, which will be the only economy compact in Chrysler’s setup, has lost its continental flared line. In silhouette, it has the clean Falcon look. The front end has been simplified, with only a pair of single headlamps. The grille is akin to Rambler’s baby American.
