Mar. 7, 1962 - Because salt spray had often interfered with his hobby of stargazing, Dave Garroway (pictured) sold his house in Westhampton Beach, Long Island, yesterday. Today, heavy seas undermined the house, broke it apart, and carried it into the Atlantic. The TV star bought the house four years ago, but he put it on the market last summer because spray continually fogged the lens of his 12-inch reflector telescope. To continue his hobby, he bought a home in the Catskills and ordered a 16-inch telescope. Yesterday, he sold the beach house to Ira Fisher of Manhattan for $39,000. Today, the house was one of 43 demolished in Westhampton Beach by the storm of the last two days.
