Dean Martin Sues Fox Over "Something's Got To Give" Fiasco

June 25, 1962 - Dean Martin sued 20th Century-Fox today for $6,885,550, charging that the studio had wrongly blamed him for the scrapping of “Something’s Got to Give,” in which he was to co-star with Marilyn Monroe. Fox dismissed Miss Monroe for failing to appear for work, sued her, then later sued Mr. Martin, maintaining that he had failed to approve Lee Remick as a replacement. Mr. Martin’s action accused Fox of distributing misinformation about his position and failing to disclose his willingness to appear with an actress other than Miss Remick. The actor said certain persons at Fox had been subjected to intense criticism because of large losses, and had conspired to cast blame on him.
