DNC Plans Star-Studded Fundraiser for President Kennedy in January

Nov. 7, 1963 - The Democratic National Committee is planning another big celebration — and fundraising affair — to mark the third anniversary of President Kennedy’s inauguration. It announced yesterday that Sidney Salomon Jr. (second from right) has been named chairman of the third anniversary salute scheduled in Washington for January 23. Mr. Salomon is a veteran party fundraiser, having served as chairman of the Democratic National Finance Committee in 1960, treasurer of the national committee 10 years earlier, and finance director of the Senate Campaign Committee in the years between. National committee Chairman John M. Bailey (far left) said the 1964 gala, as was last year’s affair, will be produced by Broadway songwriter and showman Richard Adler (second from left), and many celebrities are expected to perform. The funds raised will go to the Democratic National Committee and to the Democratic Senatorial and Congressional Campaign Committees.
