Aug. 2, 1962 - Frank Howard, who has driven in 21 runs in his last 10 games, broke a 7th-inning tie today with a 2-run single that brought the Dodgers a 5-3 victory over Pittsburgh before 40,722 fans in Los Angeles. The victory kept the league-leading Dodgers four games ahead of second-place San Francisco. The Pirates held a 3-0 lead until the Dodger sixth, when Tom Davis connected with Willie Davis aboard. It was Tom’s 17th homer, and it ran his RBI total to 108, high in the majors.
