Jan. 15, 1962 - Elizabeth Taylor and her husband, Eddie Fisher, announced today they had adopted a baby girl. They said they had been looking for a child for nearly two years. The girl, Maria, is a 1-year-old orphan. The actress has three other children by previous marriages. Her husband, the singer, has two by his former marriage.
