First Lady Enjoys Royal Ballet at Metropolitan Opera House in New York

May 2, 1963 - The elegantly dressed audience that attended the performance of the Royal Ballet at the Metropolitan Opera House last night had an unexpected pleasure during the first intermission when it discovered that Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy was in Box 23. Anthony Bliss, president of the Metropolitan Opera Association, and Lauder Greenway, a member of the Metropolitan board of directors, were in Mrs. Kennedy’s party. They watched the American premiere of the Royal Ballet’s “Marguerite and Armand,” starring Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev.
