Formerly Banned Singer Yves Montand to Sing at White House Gala

Dec. 15, 1962 - Yves Montand, who at one time could not even get a visa to come to the United States, disclosed today he has been invited to sing at a White House gala Jan. 18. Mr. Montand is now presenting a one-man show at a Paris theater. About 10 years ago, Mr. Montand was refused a visa to go to the U.S. because of suspected leftist sympathies. Since then, however, he has made several trips to this nation for theater appearances and to make movies. He appeared in Marilyn Monroe’s last musical film performance, “Let’s Make Love,” two years ago.
