Giants and Packers Prepare for Championship Game Dec. 30

Dec. 24, 1962 - The New York Giants relaxed with family and friends today during a three-day break for Christmas, and Coach Allie Sherman said he expected every player to be in shape for Sunday’s championship game against the Green Bay Packers. When the Giants resume practice Wednesday, it will be at Bear Mountain, approximately 40 miles north of New York City. In the event of inclement weather, the Giants will work out in the U.S. Military Academy fieldhouse at nearby West Point. The Packers also turned their attention today to the Christmas holiday and suspended workouts for the championship game until Wednesday. Coach Vince Lombardi (pictured) told his Western Division champions to enjoy the rest today and tomorrow but to be prepared to face three more workout sessions before leaving Friday for New York. The temperature was 10 below zero in Green Bay today.
