Jan. 25, 1962 - Mrs. Eliza (Granny) Harper, who remembers seeing Gen. Ulysses S. Grant (pictured) parade in Brooklyn after the Civil War, received a card in Southampton, N.Y., today from President Kennedy on her 106th birthday. Mrs. Harper, who has occupied Room 303 at Southampton Hospital for 12 years, is believed to be Suffolk County’s oldest resident. She is a keen student of current history and enjoys her morning newspaper. Today it took two birthday cakes to hold the 106 candles.
