Dec. 11, 1962 - Premier David Ben-Gurion (pictured second from right) threatened today to send the Israeli army deep into Syria in retaliatory action if the Syrians renew their “arrogant” attacks on Israeli villages. “The army’s hand will find them anywhere — on their territory, in their military positions, in places where they perhaps assume we cannot reach them,” the premier said. Mr. Ben-Gurion’s threat of reprisal was caused by a four-hour battle last Tuesday in which the living quarters of three Israeli settlements in the demilitarized zone at the Sea of Galilee were sprayed by machine-gun fire.
