Joan Crawford To Make Small-Screen Debut on CBS’s “Route 66”

Sept. 12, 1963 - Joan Crawford will make her debut in filmed television in Herbert B. Leonard’s “Route 66,” guest-starring in an episode called “Same Picture, Different Frame.” The episode was written for her by Stirling Silliphant, co-creator of the CBS series. The episode will be filmed in Poland Spring, Maine. In the story, Tod (Martin Milner, left) and Linc (Glenn Corbett, right) are working at a children's summer camp. Linc acts as protector for one of the counselors (Crawford) who is frightened by the threat of her escaped mental patient husband. Tod, meanwhile, has his hands full warding off the advances of a teenage attendee at the camp.
