July 16, 1963 - Joanne Woodward (right), the actress, and Juliette Greco, French singer-actress, were blacklisted throughout the Arab world today for violating the Pan Arab boycott of Israel. The Arab League boycott headquarters in Damascus, Syria, which announced the ban, did not specify the alleged violations. It said films in which the actresses appeared would be banned from all Arab countries. Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Paul Newman, and Danny Kaye also are on the blacklist. All have supported Israel in the past, and Mr. Sinatra performed there last year during his world tour. Mr. Newman starred in “Exodus,” the 1960 film which told the story of the foundation of the modern state of Israel.
