Aug. 17, 1963 - Johnny Carson, the television performer and host of the “Tonight” show for NBC, was married today to Joanne Copeland, a former model. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Donald Hoffman of the Marble Collegiate Church, Fifth Avenue and 29th Street. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Copeland of Palo Alto, Calif. She attended San Mateo College and is a graduate student of psychology at Hunter College. Mr. Carson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Carson of Columbus, Neb. His 1949 marriage to the former Jody Wolcott ended in divorce this year. A small reception for friends was held at Mr. Carson’s apartment at York Avenue and 63rd Street after the ceremony.
