Sept. 1, 1962 - Peter Wallace, the 19-year-old son of television commentator Mike Wallace, was found dead yesterday in a ravine south of Corinth, Greece. Mike Wallace (pictured today at his son’s burial), worried by a lack of news from Peter for 26 days, flew to Athens yesterday. Young Wallace’s body was identified by the father. Police said the young man had probably slipped to his death while on a hiking holiday in southern Greece. Peter Wallace arrived in Athens Aug. 3. He was last seen at the Mega Spilaion monastery. The monks there said he had expressed a wish to enter the monastic life. Peter Wallace’s mother is the former Norma Kaphan of New York, Mike Wallace’s first wife. She is now married to Bill Leonard, the news commentator for CBS.
