Aug. 1, 1961 - René Clément's "Purple Noon" will open on Aug. 10 at the Little Carnegie Theatre in New York. The cast of the French-language color melodrama includes Alain Delon (pictured), Marie Laforet and Maurice Ronet. Tom Ripley (Delon) is a talented mimic, moocher, forger and all-around criminal improviser. But there's more to Tom Ripley than even he can guess.
