Nov. 2, 1962 - The problem of Negroes in American society will be dealt with by Carl Lerner, a film editor known for his work on “12 Angry Men” and other films. Mr. Lerner plans to make his debut as writer-director in the feature film field with “Black Like Me,” an adaptation of the book by John Howard Griffin. The story deals with a reporter who, upon deciding to live in the Deep South, darkens his skin to pass as a Negro. Mr. Lerner plans to make the film partly on location in the South and in New York. Production on “Black Like Me” is slated to begin in February.
