Apr. 26, 1962 - “Divorce Italian Style,” a comedy representing Italy at the Cannes Film Festival next month, has been acquired for distribution in the U.S. this summer by Embassy Pictures. Marcello Mastroianni, the star of “The Night” and “La Dolce Vita,” won Italy’s “silver ribbon” as best actor of the year for his performance in the leading role. The farce was directed by Pietro Germi. A married Sicilian baron (Mastroianni) falls in love with his cousin and vows to wed her. But with divorce illegal, he must concoct a crime of passion to do away with his wife.
