Jan. 10, 1962 - Ingmar Bergman’s “Through a Glass Darkly” is the Swedish entry in this year’s competition for Hollywood’s Academy Award as the best foreign film. The picture, about love, faith, and a mentally ill woman, was nominated by the Swedish Film Academy. The Swedish director and writer won an Academy Award last year for “The Virgin Spring.”
