Oct. 2, 1961 - Opening in local theatres this week is "King of the Roaring Twenties," a gangster drama about Arnold Rothstein, with David Janssen. Rothstein, nicknamed “The Brain,” was a gambler and racketeer in New York City until his murder in 1928. He was widely reputed to have fixed the 1919 World Series. Rothstein was also a mentor of future crime bosses Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky, and Frank Costello.
