Dec. 25, 1963 - Opening today is “Love with the Proper Stranger,” a romantic comedy-drama starring Natalie Wood and Steve McQueen (pictured during a break in filming), directed by Robert Mulligan, and produced by Alan Pakula from a screenplay by Arnold Schulman. Also in the cast are Edie Adams, Herschel Bernardi, Tom Bosley, and Harvey Lembeck. The story deals with Angie Rossini (Wood), a salesclerk at Macy's department store from a traditional Italian-American family, who finds herself pregnant after a one-night stand with Rocky Papasano, a musician (McQueen) who does not remember her. Shot at various locations in New York City, the film addresses themes of abortion, marriage, and adulthood.
