Movies: "Paris Blues" with Paul Newman and Sidney Poitier

Nov. 5, 1961 - Scheduled to open this week in local theatres is “Paris Blues,” a drama with music. Martin Ritt directed the United Artists release. Sidney Poitier plays expatriate jazz saxophonist Eddie Cook, and Paul Newman portrays trombone-playing Ram Bowen. The two men romance two vacationing American tourists, Connie Lampson (Diahann Carroll) and Lillian Corning (Joanne Woodward). The film deals with American racial issues contrasted with Paris's open acceptance of Negroes.
