May 13, 1963 - Peter Sellers has been signed for the leading role in “The World of Henry Orient,” a comedy to be filmed in New York starting July 29. The United Artists release, which will be the British comedian’s first film in America, will be produced by Jerry Hellman and directed by George Roy Hill. A mischievous, adventuresome fourteen-year-old girl and her best friend begin following Henry Orient (Sellers), an eccentric concert pianist, around New York City after they both develop a crush on him. Orient's paranoia leads him to believe the two girls, who seem to pop up everywhere he goes, are spies sent by his would-be mistress's husband. The original story by Nora Johnson was inspired in part by a real-life incident involving singer Tony Bennett and two teenaged fans.
