Jan. 29, 1962 - Robert Wise will produce and direct “The Haunting,” an adaptation of Shirley Jackson’s novel, “The Haunting of Hill House,” for MGM in the summer. It will star Julie Harris, Claire Bloom, Richard Johnson, and Russ Tamblyn. Mr. Wise will begin production of the New England ghost story after completion of his next assignment, “Two for the Seesaw.” The story tells of Hill House, which has stood for 90 years and appears haunted. Its inhabitants have met strange, tragic ends. Now Dr. John Markway (Johnson) has assembled a team of people he believes can prove whether or not the house is haunted.
