May 15, 1963 - Warner Brothers has negotiated a deal with Sinatra Enterprises to make “Robin and the 7 Hoods.” The film will star Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, and director Gordon Douglas will begin filming in October. The Technicolor and Panavision satirical comedy will be a joint venture of Martin’s Claude Productions and Sinatra’s company. The screenplay by John Fenton Murray is based on an original story by Evelyn and Richard Condon which in turn is based on the legends of Robin Hood but laid against the background of Chicago in the 1920s. Also in the cast are Sammy Davis Jr., Bing Crosby, Peter Falk, Barbara Rush, and a cameo by Edward G. Robinson. The musical score will be composed by Nelson Riddle, and the film will feature songs by Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Cahn.
