Movies: Roger Corman's "The Premature Burial"

Mar. 7, 1962 - Opening in local theatres today is “The Premature Burial,” a horror film directed by Roger Corman and starring Ray Milland and Hazel Court. The screenplay by Charles Beaumont and Ray Russell is based upon the 1844 short story of the same name by Edgar Allan Poe. This is the third Poe-themed picture directed by Mr. Corman, after “House of Usher” (1960) and “The Pit and the Pendulum” (1961). In this film, an artist (Milland) grows distant from his new wife (Court) as he is consumed by an irrational horror of premature burial.
