Oct. 27, 1963 - “Soldier in the Rain,” a romantic comedy-drama set in a contemporary Army camp and featuring Jackie Gleason, Steve McQueen, and Tuesday Weld, will have its premiere at the Palace Theater on Nov. 27. The Allied Artists presentation was directed by Ralph Nelson and produced by Blake Edwards and Martin Jurow. The film explores the friendship between an Army master sergeant (Gleason) and a young country bumpkin buck sergeant (McQueen). The music is by Henry Mancini.
