Dec. 26, 1961 - The film version of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel “Tender is the Night,” with Jennifer Jones and Jason Robards Jr., will open at New York’s Plaza Theatre on Jan. 19, after the current “Something Wild.” It will have its premiére at the Paramount Theatre the previous evening. The story deals with a psychiatrist and his life with a patient he helped recover.
