Movies: “The Birds”

Mar. 27, 1963 - In Alfred Hitchcock’s forthcoming thriller “The Birds,” Malcolm Atterbury (left) will play his 25th role as a sheriff. In his 200 motion pictures and television shows, Mr. Atterbury has played a judge 10 times, a farmer 12 times, a minister 8 times, a medicine man 7 times, and a cow thief once. Mr. Atterbury, 56 years old, is perhaps best known for his uncredited role in Mr. Hitchcock’s “North by Northwest” (1959) as the rural man who exclaims to Cary Grant, "That plane's dustin' crops where there ain't no crops!" His most recent film role was that of a U.S. Senator in last year's “Advise & Consent."
