Aug. 16, 1963 - Terence Stamp and Samantha Eggar have been cast in the leads of “The Collector,” a British film version of John Fowles’s psychological horror novel released in May. Divided in two sections, the novel contains both the perspective of the captor and the captive. William Wyler will direct. Mr. Stamp made his film debut in Peter Ustinov’s film adaptation of Herman Melville’s “Billy Budd” (1962). His portrayal of the title character brought him not only an Academy Award nomination but also international attention. Miss Eggar began her acting career in several Shakespearean companies, notably playing Titania in a 1962 production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” directed by Tony Richardson.
