May 30, 1963 - Today’s new film is “The List of Adrian Messenger,” starring George C. Scott (right), Dana Wynter, and Clive Brook. Tony Curtis, Kirk Douglas, Burt Lancaster, Robert Mitchum, and Frank Sinatra portray disguised roles in the murder mystery, which was directed by John Huston (left). During an epilogue, the stars appear on camera removing their disguises and revealing their identity. Elizabeth Taylor was scheduled to be one of the guest stars hidden under make-up in a disguised role, but she demurred after word was conveyed to her about the grueling process that applying and removing the disguise would involve. The film, based on the 1959 novel of the same name, deals with a former intelligence officer (Scott) who is tasked by the heir to the Gleneyre estate to investigate the unusual deaths of a disparate group of eleven men on a list.
