July 2, 1963 - Richard Burton, Ava Gardner, Deborah Kerr, and Sue Lyon (pictured with Burton) have been signed for the roles created on Broadway by Patrick O’Neal, Bette Davis, and Margaret Leighton in the film version of “The Night of the Iguana.” The Tennessee Williams play, winner of the New York Drama Critics award one year ago, will go before the cameras in Mexico in September under the direction of John Huston. In the story, an ostracized Episcopal clergyman (Burton) leads a busload of middle-aged Baptist women on a tour of the Mexican coast and comes to terms with the failure haunting his life.
