June 11, 1963 - George Sidney has signed to direct “Viva Las Vegas,” which will co-star Ann-Margret and Elvis Presley. The picture, to be shot in color, will have a 10-week shooting schedule with filming set to roll July 15 at MGM Studios in Hollywood. There will also be location shooting in Las Vegas for three weeks. It will mark Mr. Sidney’s second musical in a row to have Ann-Margret as his star. They recently teamed at Columbia for “Bye Bye Birdie.” RCA Victor, which has both Ann-Margret and Elvis Presley under contract, has the inside track on the film’s soundtrack album.
