Mrs. Kennedy's Pakistani Horse Out of Quarantine

May 14, 1962 - Sardar, Mrs. Kennedy’s gift horse from Pakistan, has been flown to Washington, kept in quarantine, and taken to the Kennedys’ Glen Ora estate in Virginia. Informed sources said the bay gelding, which was presented to Mrs. Kennedy by President Mohammed Ayub Khan of Pakistan, was flown to Washington in an Air Force plane late in March. Sardar, which means “chief,” was quarantined at Fort McNair in Washington, stabled separately from the other horses. The horse was taken to the Kennedys’ rented estate in Middleburg, Va., by van last Tuesday.
