Oct. 1, 1962 - On sale in local record stores today is the debut album by The Beach Boys, “Surfin’ Safari.” The LP album was preceded by two singles: “Surfin’” and “Surfin’ Safari,” which charted at numbers 75 and 14, respectively. Leading Beach Boy Brian Wilson wrote or co-wrote with Mike Love and Gary Usher nine of the album’s twelve tracks. The Beach Boys hail from Hawthorne, California.
