Mar. 14, 1963 - The NBA first-round division playoffs open at Syracuse Tuesday and at St. Louis Wednesday. Syracuse hosts Cincinnati in its Eastern Division opener of a best-of-five series. In the Western Division, St. Louis entertains Detroit in their best-of-five series starting Wednesday. The Syracuse-Cincinnati winner moves into the Eastern finals against the Boston Celtics. Los Angeles, which won the Western Division crown in regular season play, will meet the St. Louis-Detroit winner. Division finals will be on a best-of-seven basis, as will the NBA championship playoff. In last year’s NBA Finals (pictured), the Boston Celtics defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games.
