Mar. 22, 1962 - Wilt Chamberlain broke his NBA playoff record tonight with 56 points and led the Philadelphia Warriors to a 121-104 victory over the Syracuse Nationals. The Warriors thus gained the Eastern finals against the Boston Celtics. The Warrior-Celtic series opens Saturday afternoon at the Boston Garden. Chamberlain’s previous playoff record was 53 points against Syracuse, also at Philadelphia’s Convention Hall, on March 14, 1960.
