Aug. 15, 1961 - Acting to strengthen their shaky quarterback position, the New York Giants today obtained Y.A. Tittle from the San Francisco Forty-Niners. In exchange for the 34-year-old Tittle, who has had 13 years of pro experience, the Giants shipped Lou Cordileone, a promising 24-year-old offensive guard to San Francisco. The bald-headed Tittle, who prefers to be known by his initials rather than his given names of Yelverton Abraham, has been a topflight pro performer since 1948, when he broke in with the Baltimore Colts.
