Apr. 7, 1962 - With Dave Keon and Dick Duff scoring two goals apiece, the Toronto Maple Leafs moved into the final round of the Stanley Cup hockey playoffs by beating the New York Rangers, 7-1, at Maple Leaf Gardens tonight. Tim Horton supplied much of the spark as the Leafs dashed to a 3-0 first-period lead and had the Rangers hanging on the ropes the rest of the way. In winning this 4-of-7 series, 4-2, the Leafs outplayed the New Yorkers throughout the game. The Rangers were looking while the Leafs were shooting. Toronto last gained the Stanley Cup finals in 1960. In that season, the Leafs bowed in four straight to the Canadiens.
